Self-determination refers to a set of skills that enable individuals to take control of their own lives, free from unnecessary external interference.
Studies evaluating the quality of life of older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have found that self-determination consistently receives the lowest scores, making it the dimension most in need of support and promotion.
This research seeks to understand the training needs related to self-determination among older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chile. The ultimate goal is to develop a training program that promotes the development and practice of skills associated with self-determination.
