All around the world there are more people with noncommunicable diseases and aging that need palliative care. This article analyses when palliative care should be integrated for people with non oncologic chronic diseases and the implications of its implementation.
The authors concluded that palliative care should be a care strategy for all people with complex chronic diseases. The integration of this type of care should be done at an early stage and in an active, multidimensional and safe manner by a well equipped health team and coordinated at all levels of care.
