Claudia Lineros is the latest Expert by Experience to join the research center, bringing unique perspectives and advocating for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
Since its establishment, the Millenium Institute for Care Research MICARE has placed the participation of those who live the daily reality of caring for older adults and people with intellectual and developmental disability at the center of its work.
MICARE’s Experts by Experience collaborate in research not merely as subjects of study, but as advisers and co-researchers.
Claudia Lineros (39) joins MICARE to bring her unique perspective and lived experience to the Institute’s work. Becoming a professional Expert by Experience means making her voice heard and learning from others with intellectual disabilities. “People just don’t understand that we can achieve a lot of things,” she says, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about the abilities and rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
Claudia is married and the mother of a nine-year-old boy. She works as a support staff member at a health center, where she is known for her commitment and dedication. In 2018, she completed high school thanks to her perseverance and determination. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family, going to the movies, and dancing. She also participates in Fundación ConTrabajo and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, contributing to events and parish activities.
In her role at MICARE, Claudia’s purpose is clear: “To learn more about disability and to live new experiences,” as well as to advocate for what matters most to her: “Ensuring rights are respected, especially health and education rights.”
We are confident that Claudia’s participation will be key to making research more inclusive, which means, a research where the voices of those living with disabilities are not only heard but also part of the change we want to see.
