The objective of the survey is to understand the evolution of care for older adults and people with intellectual disabilities. The Millennium Institute for Care Research (MICARE) launched its third survey to understand the situation of caregivers and care work in Chile.

The survey will be realized in the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso, BíoBío, and Metropolitan, focusing on people who provide care at home, both for dependent older adults and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This MICARE study investigates the caregiving experience, seeking to characterize both the positive aspects and the dilemmas faced by caregivers. Throughout the questionnaire, in addition to collecting sociodemographic data on caregivers and people receiving care or support, such as age, gender, educational level, and employment status, it investigates the relationship between the caregiver and the person receiving support or care, the time devoted to caregiving, and the different regions covered by the survey.

The responses will be used to guide the adoption of public policies and interventions that improve the lives of dependent older adults, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those who provide care.
