On December 1, 2025, the PUCV Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Health and Inclusion received a visit from a group of members of the Coanil Foundation, in an effort to strengthen ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration around emerging technologies for inclusion.
The activity took place in the context of the project “VR Incluye: Virtual Reality Workshops to Promote Autonomy and Inclusion,” an initiative funded by the PUCV’s Competitive Funds for Community Outreach, sponsored by MICARE, and carried out in conjunction with the University of the Americas (UDLA). The project seeks to bring virtual reality closer to people with intellectual disabilities and promote meaningful experiences of learning, participation, and personal development.
During the visit, participants learned about the capabilities of the laboratory and experienced different virtual reality applications, exploring their potential for skill development, cognitive stimulation, and strengthening autonomy. The event was led by academics PUCV and principal researcher MICARE, Felipe Muñoz La Rivera, Vanessa Vega, and Izaskun Álvarez-Aguado (UDLA), a MICARE young researcher, who guided attendees in the use of these technologies and presented the project’s progress.
This initiative reaffirms the commitment of MICARE and participating institutions to inclusion and social innovation, promoting meeting spaces that enable the development of technological solutions with a real impact on the community.
