On March 24, the seminar “Support, Care, and Technologies for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities” was held, organized by the Millennium Institute for Care Research (MICARE) in collaboration with the School of Education at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso.
The event brought together academics, researchers, and professionals for a space of reflection and dialogue on the supports, care, and technologies that contribute to strengthening the autonomy and quality of life of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The seminar featured the following presentations:
- Izaskun Álvarez Aguado, with the presentation “Aging with an intellectual disability: understanding the challenges to transform practices”.
- Vanessa Vega Córdova, who presented “Independent living toward a rights-based approach”.
- Felipe Muñoz La Rivera, with the presentation “Designing accessible housing using virtual reality”.
- Katherine Exss Cid, who presented “Interaction with technologies for thermal well-being in adults with intellectual disabilities”.
- Rodrigo Arriagada, with the presentation “Self-determination in autistic university students from the perspective and experience of university professors”.
