A few days ago, the screening of the short documentary “Cuidar”, directed by Mariana Loezar Hernández, took place at Espacio La Compañía in Valparaíso.
The documentary was developed as part of the project “Experience-Based Co-Design of an Intervention to Promote Self-Care Among Informal Female Caregivers”, a research project by MICARE’s postdoctoral fellow Mariana Loezar that sought to strengthen self-care strategies based on the personal experiences of caregivers.
Through stories and experiences shared by women caregivers in the Valparaíso Region, “Cuidar” highlights the daily challenges, knowledge, and emotional dimensions inherent in caregiving work.
Following the screening, attendees participated in a space for conversation and collective reflection on the multiple dimensions of care, sharing experiences and perspectives alongside caregivers, health teams, and organizations working in the field.
The documentary was made possible thanks to the commitment and collaboration of the CESFAMs Plaza Justicia and Jean y Marie Thierry, as well as the generous willingness of the caregivers who shared their experiences, stories, and knowledge to bring this initiative to life: Graciela Gómez Torres, Patricia Chandia Bello, Marianela Parra Molina, Luz María Aros Filippi, María Bobadilla Silva, Magdalena Muñoz Villa, Fida Jofré López, Cecilia Tilleria Navarro, Myriam Tillera Navarro, Myriam Camus, and Norma Catalán Villagómez. To all of them, we express our deepest gratitude for their trust and participation in this project.
