On May 25, the Diploma in “Comprehensive approach for the support and care of the older people” was inaugurated. This course is carried out by out by the Older People Program of the UC Center for Studies on Old Age and Aging of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, in collaboration with the Millennium Institute for Care Research (MICARE).
In today’s society, one of the main challenges of the accelerated ageing of the population is the increase in dependency that older people may present, which makes it necessary for professionals to be prepared to design and develop socio-health interventions that promote support and quality care.
That is why this diploma seeks to enable professionals to reflect and acquire tools regarding the different perspectives, trends and interventions linked to the ageing process and support and care in old age from a rights and person-centred care approach.
Beatriz Fernández, associate researcher at MICARE, academic of Sociology at the Catholic University and head of the Program for this course, was present at the opening event. From MICARE, Claudia Miranda (director), Javiera Rosell (postdoctoral researcher), Alejandra Araya (associate researcher), Jorge Browne and Herminia Gonzálvez (young researchers) are part of the lecturers.
