Bonds That Transform: A Longitudinal Study on Parental Mental Health, Early Interactions, and Developmental Trajectories of Infants with Down Syndrome

Description

The overall objective of this project is to understand the changes and relationships between early parent-child interactions and parental mental health in relation to infant development in babies with Down syndrome, from 4 to 24 months of age.

The specific objectives are:

1) To describe the trajectories of change in early parent-child interactions, parental mental health, and infant development in infants with Down syndrome between 4 and 24 months of age.

2) To explore the relationship between the starting points of the trajectories (baseline measurement) and the rates of change during the first two years of life in parent-child interactions, parental mental health, and child development.

3) To explore the longitudinal associations between parent-child interactions and parental mental health with child development in families of infants with Down syndrome during the first 2 years of life.
