Description

Women with disabilities face several difficulties in exercising autonomy over their maternity due to prevailing social representation that perceive them as asexual and non-reproductive. These perceptions reinforce infantilizing discourses about their sexual and reproductive rights. In rural settings, this situation becomes even more complex, given the limited opportunities and access to information and basic services.

This project aims to analyze the experiences of women with disabilities regarding their maternity processes, including pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period, in rural areas of Chile.
