Mission Statement
We are a Research Center of Excellence that studies the care and companionship of older people, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their carers, from all perspectives, to contribute to the dialogue driving public policies centered around care and companionship for these populations. We adhere to and respect the current human rights treaties, in particular the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD; UN, 2006) and the Inter-American Convention on Protecting the Human Rights of Older Persons (OAS; 2017). We aim to cultivate advanced human capital and establish national and international collaboration networks that generate, enrich, and strengthen our research.
Vision Statement
MICARE aims to be recognized as a scientific Center of Excellence that, based on the research it generates, influences public policies regarding the care and companionship of older people, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their carers; promotes human rights through advanced human capital development, establishes a network of national and international collaboration, and works with the community, always with the ultimate goal of benefiting individuals.
